Historical Background
It all started in 1965 when the "Militärmusikschau" was held for the first time. Already during this initial period it became clear that the public expected both military precision of the performance and a certain charm, good humour and entaining wits, combined with the sound of music.

The renaming of the show to Musikschau der Nationen® as from the 4th performance did not present a problem at all. By adding folklore elements, this Show was given a somewhat cheerful character. And, the style of music had changed at the same time. Smaller corrections were constantly made throughout the years, whilst the basical concept, however, has been maintained up to the present days.
To have this Show performed at the Bremer Stadthalle (congress hall) - built in 1964 - was the idea of Siegfried Falke, the then manager of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, Landesverband Bremen.

The idea behind this was to financially support the youth camps being held both in Germany and abroad on the one hand and to practically implement the idea of international understanding by means of impressive performances of a great number of musicians, singers and dancers on the other.
After 22 years, Rolf Reimers, the present manager of the Landesverband Bremen of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, accepted responsibility for organizing the "Musikschau".
Very soon, he became aware that the Musikschau der Nationen® would continue to exist only in the event of the programme being sustainably shaped and characterized by professional orchestras, dance groups and singers. A colourful performance, well-known tunes played by outstanding international orchestras in a great ambience - are the unmistakable attractions of the "Musikschau" having won a regularly attending audience over the years.

Meanwhile the Musikschau der Nationen® develop into the most important "indoor brass band music event" in Europe.
The planning periods regularly required for the respective events are of two to three years.
